Jon Stevens hits the Red Hot Summer Tour in 2019!
NOISEWORKS frontman Jon Stevens has just returned from the Birdsville Big Red Bash but is starting to promote the Red Hot Summer Tour.
The concert is set to rock Bella Vista Farm in March and is the third instalment of the tour which also stars Joan Jett, the Living End and Jimmy Barnes in its opening instalment on February 3.
The March 30 gig will see Stevens reunited with Aussie legends including Daryl Braithwaite, Dragon, Vanessa Amorosi, Thirsty Merc and John Farnham — who also starred in the Birdsville bash in Queensland’s Simpson Desert last week.
“It was great to catch up with Farnham and Kate Ceberano,’’ Stevens, 56, said.
“He’s a consummate professional and sings amazingly well.”
The Red Hot Summer Tour is a chance for music lovers to revel in the work of homegrown artists and it also reunites Stevens with mates.
“It’s always good to do the festivals because you get to catch up with people you haven’t seen for ages,” the New Zealand-born artist said
“It’s a camaraderie that’s very prevalent in the Australian music industry.”
The audience is bound to hear Noiseworks favourites (Take Me Back, No Lies and Touch) but the plan is to have no plan.
“I usually throw a little INXS in there; I spent four years with them,” Stevens said. “I change things mid set, it’s better to just feel it out because it’s live so too much structure, it gets a bit boring.”
Stevens relishes his long career in the industry.
“I came here in ’81 so back then everybody was around from INXS to John Farnham and Dragon,’’ he said.
“Here I am 30 years later and it’s great to be playing and I love what I do and am passionate about what I do. My catalogue is massive and I’ve produced many songs.”
Tickets for the March 30 gig at Bella Vista Farm, Baulkham Hills, are on sale from Thursday.
